Jackson Place
Contemporary Condo Landscape

Jackson Place (Jackson Place Flats)
Washington, DC
Large • In the Works & In the Ground

This ultra-modern condo building made a bold architectural statement—but the landscape hadn’t gotten the same love. As is often the case with large development projects, the construction budget was heavily invested in the building itself, leaving little room for thoughtful exterior spaces. The result is what we often call builder-grade landscaping: a predictable palette of the same fast-growing, low-cost plants repeated from site to site, with little regard for long-term character or seasonal interest.  Partnering with the incredible local team at Love and Carrots, we were brought on to reimagine the site from the ground up, developing a comprehensive landscape design and detailed planting plan. The residents were clear about what they wanted—color, texture, and year-round interest to soften the building’s stark palette and elevate daily life on the site. This anchor garden brings movement, contrast, and seasonal dynamism to the site, proving that even the most minimal architecture can be beautifully grounded by planting.

Inspired by This Landscape?

Even the most striking architecture benefits from a landscape that feels intentional and inviting. Thoughtful planting design can add color, texture, and year-round interest while creating a stronger connection between buildings and the people who experience them every day.
