Small • In the Ground
Tucked behind a small row home, this compact rear yard was reimagined as a lush, climate-responsive retreat that maximizes comfort and function. Integrated stormwater strategies—a rain garden and inground planting beds—help manage runoff while increasing tree canopy. Above, a new second-story deck extends the living space outdoors, offering a shaded perch wrapped in climbing vines that will mature into a living canopy over time. The result is a richly planted, intimate garden that feels generous despite its size.
