Fitting all the needs into a small yard can be tricky but exciting opportunities usually reveal themselves with some patience and clever exploration.  The project was broken down into two phases which included the front yard and the rear yard. For the front, we deliberately utilized the sloped “public facing” yard as a spot to grow vegetables in raised beds.  The raised beds act as retaining walls while making the space accessible, encouraging our clients and passersbys to engage with the garden. The best part is that there is no lawn to mow here. Back yard ideas are still in the concept phase, but we found the vertical features such as the fence and rear neighbor’s brick wall to present opportunities add dimension to the space.  Stay tuned as this project grows.
